Gerry,

I've managed to locate some info on the Pedler clarinet for you. The 1957
ed. of The Musician's Guide lists both the Pedler Co. and Pedler, Harry, &
Sons, both of Elkhart. The next issue we have, 1968, doesn't list Pedler
at all. Both names are also listed, under one entry, in Langwill, An Index
of Musical Wind-Instrument Makers (Edinburgh, 1962). Worrel, Directory of
Music Companies (Evanston, 1974) lists "Pedler -- see Martin-Wurlitzer."
One further trace--the inscription you gave "Hossier" may actually be
"Hoosier" because the 1957 Musician's Guide lists the "Hoosier Band Instrument
Co., 1032 E. Beardsley Ave., Elkhart, Ind. Retail outlet is Sid Pedler's
Hoosier Music Store." And Farrell, Directory of Contemporary American
Musical Instrument Makers (Columbia, MO, 1981) includes "Sid Pedler, Box 38,
Bristol, Ind. 46507 Makes of oboes" info. provided 2/76. So now you have
more than you ever wanted to know about the Pedler Co. By the way, I learned
to play clarinet on a Pedler back in 1955 and it was an antique then.
