The theory sounds fine, but there can be slight differences of
dimensions in barrels of even he most carefully matched pairs.
Risk your tuning if you feel you can humour the notes into good
behaviour, but it might be safer to cultivate a secure finger-&-
thumb grip round the base of the mouthpiece, just below the ligature.
I've found this reliable over the last quarter century; what worked
for Frederick Thurston doesn't necessarily work for the rest of us!
