The same oboe maker who recommended almond oil to me recommended
denatured alcohol as a cleaning agent. The outside of the old clarinet I
was restoring was awfully filthy. The alcohol cleaned it beautifully,
and the almond oil gave it an as-good-or-better-than-new-finish.

I think I cleaned the interior as well before oiling it - I don't
remember clearly now. Of course, it wasn't as grungey as the exterior.
