Have you spent any time experimenting with placement of the grommets?
You could spend a lifetime adjusting it.

I don't know if you were on the list about 6 months ago when we had
a discussion about ligatures. I had swapped ligatures with someone who
used the Rovner. He couldn't tell the diff. I thought that it
also played well (maybe its not that these ligatures reduce resistance,
but they allow the reed to vibrate more with the same amount of air),
but noticed a difference in sound. Someone sitting behind me felt
that the Rovner was a 'darker' sound, so its maybe more of a flavor
difference than quality.

I'd like to upgrade my other single-reeds, but I've got all 4 saxes
and one of them has two difft mouthpieces. I'm not prepared to
plunk down $300 for ligatures. I'm happy with the way it works
on the clarinet.
