A few days ago someone posted here the listserver address for a flutists'
[flautists', ... patayto, patahto...] discussion group, which led to me
wonder whether there is a similar group for saxophonists. I would assume
that at least a few of the folks participating here double occasionally on
one saxophone or another. There has occasionally been some peripheral
mention of saxophones, such as the brief aside during the discussion of
instrument substitution when someone mentioned the scoring of a sopranino
saxophone in F in a piece and the conventional substitution of a soprano
sax in Bb. However, I get the impression that such questions/discussion are
not generally considered germane to the list. I sent a GLOBAL command to
the listserv here to see which listservers it knew of, but I could find
nothing relating to saxophones in that rather mammoth file [500+ kb].
Can anyone suggest other venues for such discussion? Is there, perhaps,
something tucked away on UseNet in a news group? Thank you, and please
pardon the interruption to the ongoing discussion.
