I have Pad Savers for my metal clarinets (B-flat full-Boehm and E-flat).
I got them since the instrument cases didn't have room to store a swab,
and the instruments are unique enough to require those cases (i.e. won't
fit standard cases). I didn't want to lay a wet swab over the
instruments and tarnish the bodies.

I see a residue on the pads, but can't tell if it's enough to make a
difference in performance - so far, I think not. My main complaint is
that the stuff on the Pad Saver tastes bad, so I always swab out the
mouthpieces separately (so I carry a swab in a pocket when I'm not at home).
