Roger, the reed in question was old to the point of senility - if
the embouchure muscles are in proper trim, strength of reed and type
of mouthpiece make for greater fluency, but there's a tendency (in
this country at least) for younger students to feel that a change of
mouthpiece removes the need for regular practice! Maybe the kids are
more conscientious in your neck of the woods?
