Bernie,
The only notation for VCCSCENT on the "review" list of
subscribers to KLARINET is

somitcw@-----.bitnet

Don't know his/her name, but I figure that that is the
address of our listowner.

I posed a question to him/her a couple of days ago, but I have
not yet received a reply, so I'll directly ask our subscribers.

In August I'm going to present a talk to the national meeting
of the American Chemical Society in Washington D.C. on my
discussion list Chemistry Telementoring, a "discussion group
for chemists of all ages."

One of the points that I make in talks like this is the
democratization of the discussion because none of us can see
the poster of any message. No one is intimidated or impressed
by body language, age, sex, or Napoleonic balancing act with
pipe being puffed on wisely at appropriate times. So even though
Chemistry Telementoring ranges from subscribers in high school
to professional chemists in retirement everyone writes rather
candidly.

To add a little color to my talk, I'd like to say some things
about other lists to which I belong (and to mention that there
are now somewhere around 8000 active public lists on BITNET
and the Internet). KLARINET seems also to have a wide
spectrum of interests and accomplishments. I'm certainly
impressed by the number of professionals who take the time
to contribute their opinions.

I know we have a clarinetist from the Detroit Symphony on
the list. I'd like to ask others simply to send me the names
of the professional groups to which they belong. If you
have the time, just send me a private e-mail message with
the name of the professional orchestra/band/chamber group
to which you belong. Many thanks.

The lesson to be transmitted in my talk is how could one otherwise
bring together so cheaply such a collection of accomplished
musicians with a common interest to share their knowledge
and experience.

Oliver
