Subj: Definitive word on Pad Savers?

Can someone give me a defintive answer on the benefits/risks of
using those "Pad Saver" things to wick moisture off my clarinet
pad while it's in the case? I've heard differing opinions.

If this question has already been asked, please excuse me and
point me to an article I can download.
