I think the model I'm playing is from about 1986. The only complaint
I have about my bass is that the 'normal' fingering for B/F# (second
finger right hand) is stuffier and lower in pitch than the fork
fingering. Of course, I realized this in the middle of a solo passage
in orchestra during Christmas Festival =)

My main concern is the key mechanisms, especially the extension
keywork. How similar is the Selmer mechanism to Yamaha's? If the
extension keys are reasonably different, would it take long for me to
get used to the Yamaha layout? Thanks for putting up with my
questions!
