Subj: SOCC's potential repertoire for 1994-95

As promised, here's what the St. Olaf Clarinet Choir will hopefully be
working on for the 1994-95 year, starting with a potential concert
program for first semester:

Mozart - Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, I. Allegro - trans. Frank Sacci
***
Bach - Fugue II from Well-Tempered Clavier, Vol 1 - arr. Karl Holvik
Bach - "Little" Fugue in g - arr. Andrea Hakari =)
Bach - Allegro from Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 - arr. Russell Howland
***
Rachmaninoff - Vocalise - arr. Holvik
***
Barber - Adagio for Strings - arr. Lucien Cailliet
***
Alfred Reed - Havana Moon from "Caribbean Suite"
Krell - Mississippi Rag - arr. Frackenpohl
***
Sousa - The Stars and Stripes Forever - arr. Lloyd Conley

^^^^This would be a concert order. Solos/duets/trios/quartets would
go between the Bach and Rachmaninoff, Rachmaninoff and Barber, and
Barber and Krell. Tradition dictates that we have a Bach set =) I
hate to go with a 'cliche' ending of S&SF, but it's got percussion as
does the Reed "Havana Moon", so that would justify bringing 3 extra
people along to off-campus concert(s). I would have liked to do the
Barber and Rachmaninoff in one set, but two really deep pieces
back-to-back goes against my better judgment. "Flight of the Bumble
Bee" might work in that spot. There seems to be a chronological gap
between Mozart/Bach and Rachmaninoff, but then again I did rather
d-d-d-d-d-delightful in music history, so I might be wrong =) Below
is additional repertoire that I pulled as possibilities:

Reed - Clarinette Valsante - ed. McCathren
Jacob - Wind in the Reeds
Vivaldi - Concerto in F Major, F. XI, No. 36 - trans. Kermit Peters
Londonderry Air - arr. Casteel, ed. McCathren
Kerry Dance - arr. Matt Betton, ed. McCathren
Christmas Potpourri - ??? (manuscript)
Tchaikovsky - Finale from Violin Concerto (for solo cl. w/clarinet choir
accomp) - trans. Cailliet
Uber - Parade
Bach - Four J.S. Bach Chorales - arr. Stephen Johnston
Karg-Elert - Now Thank We All Our God - arr. Heim
Brahms - Chorale Prelude No. 8 (Es ist eine Rose entsprungen) - arr.
Richard Fote
Bach - Chorale: Awake, Awake, The Voice Is Calling - arr. Cailliet
Mozart - Serenade #11, Menuetto - arr. Palmer
Rimsky-Korsakov - The Flight of the Bumble Bee - trans. John De Bueris

Comments/constructive criticism/etc. are more than welcome, as usual.
This is my first shot at actually having to choose repertoire and to
program concerts and recitals. We didn't *quite* get to that in
instrumental conducting. Also, while I'm thinking of it, I'm sure the
ICA library has clarinet choir pieces, and my question is, will they
loan out scores/parts to student members? Thanks so much for the help!
