Myron suggests that an evening out with the boys might have resulted in
a little more beer than WAM was used to and this resulted in the Kegelstatt
autograph not being as neat as was customary.

Perhaps this is true. We'll probably never know. The reason advanced
for the work being called the Kegelstatt (bowling alley) trio is that
is was written while Mozart was "zum Kegelen". That is, he bowled a little,
composed a little, bowled a little, etc.

Personally, I find the work such a marvel of compositional skill that I
have never believed that story. The music is too finely crafted. But
maybe it is true after all, if one considers the messy state of the
autograph.
