If memory serves, Paul Cohen in Saxophone Journal has said that the F
sopranino sax never existed, in spite of what the books and the scores
say! So if a sopranino were used, it must have been an E-flat.

I have an historic recording of Ravel conducting the work. I'll have to
give it another listen and see if I can guess if a soprano or sopranino
is used!
