Your theory that metal clarinets were simply meant to be louder is
interesting. As I said, my metal E-flat is realy loud. But my B-flat is
pretty normal, as have been other metals I've played. My B-flat's
loudness seems more dependent on the mouthpiece (I've tested several)
than on the rest of the instrument.
