I'm in the same boat as Timothy Tikker -- love the sound, would like to
own one, but not at the ridiculous prices people have asked.

I only have a few things to add. In Romania, it's called taragot, and
I've read that it has replaced the clarinet in folk music in the Banat
region there. One of the better brands (perhaps the best) is Stowasser of
Hungary.

Most of them have two octave keys. I would think that the ones made with
a single touch for both, like a modern saxophone, would be easier to play.
Robert J. Moore said it wasn't hard to get used to the two keys, but then
he's an oboist.
