There are many people who feel that metal clarinets not only make nice
looking lamps, but that they also are quite useful as musical instruments.
(Haven't we been through this at least once already?)

Such people often regard Peddler instruments as among the most desirable
ever made. There was a long article about him and his production in a
German clarinet mag a while back which contained a good deal more info
than that provided in the New Langwill. I have a copy of the article
lying about somewhere and will report back if I can manage to find it.

Anyone who is curious about the metal clarinet might want to give a
listen to Lester Young's solo clarinet recordings. He uses the thing as
an instrument in its own right and the results are a touchstone in the
development of clarinetry.
