Martin mentions the magnificent Adagio for 2 clarinets and 3 basset horns.
During the Mozart bicentennial, a number of us went down to Monterey to
play a special concert honoring both Mozart and Rosario Mazzeo on his
birthday. Clark Fobes, Mark Brandenburg, me, and I don't remember who
else.

We did not only the Adagio, K. 411, but also several other Mozart works
for the same combination that exist only in fragmentary form. One of
them is only 14 measures long and then breaks off. We also did the
6 notturni for voices and clarinets/basset horns, the Adagio for clarinet
and three basset horns, and one of the trios for three basset horns.
Somewhere in there we played "Happy Birthday to you" for Rosario.

It was a hell of a night.
