Roger, the mark "Buffet a Londres" is curious. I have looked this is up
in my "New Langwill Index" and cannot find a reference to that mark. If
this is an Instrument built by "Buffet- Crampon" then the serial number
corresponds to a system used by them. However, the "L" at the end is
confusing. The incorporation of letters usually ocurred at either the
beginning OR the end, but not both. A serial number K814 would be
approximately late 1897 or early 1898. does it have an "LP" any where
else on the body? I do not know if they were distinguishing between high
and low pitch instruments. I wonder if the "L" in the number refers to
"Low Pitch".
