Thanks for the notes that I have received so far with regard to
Mozart's Gran Partitta. Esp. Thanks to Dan Leeson for pointers to
additional article and the Neue Mozart Ausgabe. I have obtained both.

The main part of my posting here was to gain additional insight into the
piece. As a musicologist I find this diving into the historical side
fascinating. I had hoped to follow -up some of the postings on the
weekendbut unfortunately, due to a Ma Bell glitch could not access the system
'til today. Therefore I did not post many details about my involvement in
playing the piece, including the planned instrumentation, here.

We are using an unusual combination of instruments, However, I am sure we
are not the first group to do so.

So it would be nice to get back to a discussion about the
background of the piece rather than making jokes about a planned
performance. Sometimes substitutions in recipes turn out nicer than
their critics expect them to be. You never know 'til you try it out.

Anyway, look forward to hearing...
