Pierce services Monday

Services for Jerry D. Pierce, 56, Anderson, will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday in
Seeks Mortuary. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery, southwest of Muncie.
Calling at the mortuary will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be sent to Valley Grove Elementary School, Anderson, for a
music award in memory of Jerry D. Pierce.
Mr. Pierce died Friday in Muncie Health Care Center after a long illness.
He was born in Muncie and graduated from Central High School. He received
bachelor's and master's degrees in music from Ball State University.
Mr. Pierce was a freelance musician, taught at Music Today, and had been on
the faculty of Anderson University.
An accomplished clarinetist, he had played for the Anderson Symphony, Muncie
Symphony, and Halifax Symphony and with the Jerry Lorance Trio.
He was a member and president of the International Clarinet Society and vice
president of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 32. He attended
Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Pierce; a son, Daniel J. Pierce, and his
mother, Jane E. McConnell Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest B. Pierce.
