Just some amplification on the subject of Midiscan. I'm right in the
middle of using it to get the piano part of a solo into midi, for
playing accompaniment for practice.
Be aware that although they claim about 90% accuracy of recognition, I've
found it closer to 60%, which is still fairly good for a new technology.
And be aware that if you only have a hand scanner, it will be very difficult
to use. A flat-bed is practically a necessity; I had to have an acquaintance
do the scanning for me.
In any event, plan on lots of editing. On some pages, I've spent a half
hour on 5 sets of 2 staves; some less, some more.
I've also found a bug or two, which leads me to let you know that the
customer service is very good, very helpful.
I'm glad I have it, though. If I had less time to spare, maybe I wouldn't.
Myron
