Boosey & Hawkes ebonite clarinets were equipped with stainless steel keywork,
since the large sulphur content of the rubber could be expected to tarnish any
copper alloy pretty rapidly and turn it, not verdigris green, but BLACK.
I knew someone who played a Clinton-system specimen up to around 10 years ago.
