James, thank you for tracking down the mysterious clarinetists.
The cheapoid Django CD I have is "DJANGO: VOL 1 & VOL 2"
(ITI Records CDP72961 & CDP72962). What makes them cheapoid is that
they only contain a few numbers with Reinhardt in them; the rest of
them feature other instrumentalists doing Reinhardt classics. Ironically,
it is the three Reinhard numbers that feature the unknown clarinetist
(September Song, Brazil and Swing de Paris).

I got them for about $2.50 at a sidewalk sale, and despite their problems
they were a great intro to folks like Stephane Grappelli and Joe Venuti.
It also prompted me to look into better recordings of Reinhardt along with
other Jazz greats. Outside of my obsessions with Eric Dolphy and
Benny Goodman, I still don't have many of the "classic" jazz albums,
a problem I am happily rectifying.
