Dan Leeson mentioned some comfort-giving modifications
that Rosario Mazzeo had made to a basset horn that
Dan bought from him.

I recall that Mazzeo had undertaken to have a clarinet
custom made (expenses be damned) so that every physical
aspect of it fit *him* exactly right. Some rather
unconventional keys were crafted for him. (Clark, was
this your work by any chance?) When I was studying
with him in the 1970s he had made the first few modifications
already. I think he wrote about the full process,
which might be in an issue of "The Clarinet" or might have
been in his book (published by Alfred).

If anyone can provide more specific references to the list
before I can check my library, don't be shy about it.
