I've been bearded during many of my clarinet-playing years.
I found that contact between my facial hair and the clarinet
was distracting to me, even if it was more subtle than ligature
screws ripping out hairs by their roots. My solution was to
trim my beard completely in the area just below my lower lip.
It's a slightly unusual cut for a full beard, but everyone's
entitled to a personal style.
