Modifications to a horn are always an option, but please
don't overlook the benefits of the Alexander Technique
for reducing physical tension, changing habits, and
improving coordination. A good first book is
Michael Gelb's "Body Learning" (terrible title; A.T. is
not a New Age technique). For the more scholarly,
there's a book called "Tension in Musical Performance"
or something similar; it's not an A.T. book per se,
but does include some information. And, for those
who must have primary source material, there are
several books by F.M. Alexander; somewhat tendentious
but valuable nonetheless.
