I have found that although it is difficult to find a cap to fit over, it is
difficult to adjust the read quickly, it needs a very good reed to create any
sound when using it and it tends to get ragged looking, my Pyne ligature serves
me well. I use it on a Gigliotti mouthpiece with Vand. reeds and I have had
some great moments of clarinet pleasure from this set up. (some)
I have a friend in Australia who uses a strip of velcro!

Does anyone know of books, articals or dissertations that have been written (or
has written him/herself ) on the subject of analysis of unaccompanied works for
clarinet? I am particularly interested in the 60's -90's time period. I will
be checking out the Cl.Mag. but if you have any other sources, I would be very
interested in finding out about them.

I would also like to ask everyone this question. Would an analysis of a new
work (or recently composed one) published along with the piece give anyone more
interest in performing, teaching or listening to new music? I would be very
interested in your response as I have been having a discussion/argument about
this concept for a year here at M.S.U.and would like to have some more fuel for
the fire! I believe that it would help us greatly to have some sort of
analysis, or "blue print" of the construction of a work that we could either
toss out, or read. Even with older works such as the Brahms "sonatas". Has
this sort of thing been done before? Am I way out in la la land, gently
landing now and then on reality-turf?
