I have a Rovner on my bass clarinet. As a still-struggling
semi-beginner, I've found that it helps put the reed just where
I want it, and keeps it there far better than my standard metal
ligature did. It does make my tone darker, but that isn't such a
bad thing for a bass clarinet in a concert band.
I've looked at other ligature systems, but it seems like a bit of
overkill to spend $60.00 on a ligature when I'm still trying to
develop a decent emboucher. For my needs, the Rovner works
really well.
