I'm sure that its premature for B&H to announce their plans,
but my first question is "Will these composite clarinets cost
more or less than the std model?".

Thinking back on a similar case, Martin introduced the D-35
guitar in the late 60s as an alternate to the D-28. It had a
3-piece back instead of a 2-piece back. They claimed it had
better bass response and I believe they charged more for it.
Reality was that shortages of rosewood made it difficult to
obtain acceptable wood large enough for two-piece backs, so
they came out with an instrument with smaller pieces of wood
and positioned it as being advantageous.

Not to say that the D-35 isn't a fine instrument. Also, the
cost of the materials shouldn't necessarily affect the price
of the finished instrument. If Buffet makes a superior horn,
they will be justified in charging more.
