Thanks to Chris Zello for posting the list of clarinet activities at the
Clarinet Conference at DePaul.
I have been to the last three conferences and I can definitely say that
each one has gotten better. Last summer in Ghent was fantastic, primarily
due to the wide range of music that was heard.
As an exhibitor I have always been a little miffed that we get rather
short shrift in terms of advance publicity. We pay quite a bit for the
privilege of having a booth and , I think, the participation of vendors
is an integral part of the conference. When will you ever get another
chance to see Charles Bay, Iggy Gennusa, James Pyne, Robert Borbeck,
Clark W Fobes, Buffet, Selmer, Leblanc, Yamaha, Luis Rossi, Peter Eaton
and other makers all in the same place and be able to try it all??!!!!!
I think that is a pretty marvelous opportunity and the conference should
make more of it!
Hope to see some of you there.
Clark W Fobes
PS. If you have never heard Harry Spaarnay play this is a great
opportunity to hear a pioneer virtuoso who does not come to the US
very often.
