Stan, I am cautious about criticizing any composer because appreciation of
music is such a personal act, but in Bozza's case I want to offer the
following. His excessive, almost exclusive, use of chromatic scales as his
main (often sole) vehicle of musical rhetoric wears me down. Chromatic scales
up and down do not make for sufficient variety to my ears.
