Sorry to butt in the middle of mouthpiece specifications (I'm a French horn
player myself who has never quite found just the right one that makes
everything easy - Hah) but I was wondering if anyone on the list could help
me locate some information about some clarinets that we believe were built
in the early 20th century. They have "Couesnon" stamped on them. Is this of
significance? Is it the name of the maker? If so, was it a reputable
company?

The other question I have is more prosaic. I read in a mystery novel once
that clarinets used by professionals need to be replaced every ten years or
so because they deteriorate. That did not seem correct to me, but then I
know nothing about clarinets. Can someone provide the correct answer?
