I was told that a rule of thumb was that the wider the tip opening the
thinner the reed. However, I have a BAY MOM that I use as my major
mouthpiece but I put a 4 or sometimes 5 (slightly thinned) reed on it.
This has confused my current teacher and I have never given it much
thought. Has anyone else heard of this rule and do you follow it, abandon
it, or (like me) never thought about it?
