I recently borrowed one from a local colleague who sprung for it. I
could not get it to hone a reed in the ideal 20 seconds the Armato
claims for it. In fact, I sat for hours honing one reed, never
finishing it. Also, if you push down too hard you get scoring marks from
the file on the vamp. I suppose if you did enough reeds you would
eventually find the perfect places to put the reed in and the perfect
pressure to use. The other thing that really bothered me was that there was
no way to hold the reed on except with your fingers, and no matter how hard
I tried, I couldn't hold it perfectly and it moved constantly. I will be
happy to discuss the workings of the tool if you want to contact me.
