If possible I would try to get a few of each of the horns to try.
Perhaps a college professor at school can have a few sent to him/her.
That way you would be able to try each of the horns first-hand to
see which one suits you best. Everyone is going to like horns for
different reasons!
Personally I am biased towards Buffet's. But that is my personal
opinion. I have played on some of the Leblanc's and I didn't like them.
I also arrived at college with a Leblanc Normandy 4. I found the Buffet
clarinets to be a great horn after the Normandy. If is not too expensive
you may want to get your other clarinet fixed (pinned maybe???) to use
as a backup instrument.
