Subj: Cases...a clarification

Mayhaps I should clarify myself a bit...

What I'm looking for is to see if people have bought NEW Clarinets AND KEPT THE
ORIGINAL CASE because it had enough room in it for them. Almost everybody who
has a new Clarinet that I know has bought a different case for it because the
one that came with it was too small.

I have the original case for my Buffet, which is about 40 years old. That case
has plenty of room for me and all my little "trinkets"; it even has space for
an extra barrel. But the new cases - even for the higher-end models - have
little to no extra space in them. This makes no sense to me, because the
player is most likely going to buy a bigger case anyway. Why not just supply
the bigger case already and tack on the $60 or whatever the bigger case costs
to the purchase price of the Clarinet? Sax players get cases big enough, and
so do most Trumpets. Why not Clarinets? Or, for that matter, Oboes? They
need more crap than we do, and their cases are no bigger than ours.
