The edition I was referring to for the Bartok was
indeed tha the Boosey & Hawkes and comes with two clarinet parts
for B-flat/A and just B-flat clarinet.
On the Benny Goodman recording with Bela Bartok playing
piano Goodman plays the first two movements on A and the does
the switching in the third moem movement. I am pari partial
to the comper pomposers composers intentions. But I've
never heard it actually performed any other way.
