Subj: Help with Bartok "Contrasts"

I'm forwarding this inquiry for my clarinet teacher, Dunja McKenney at
Portland State University here in Oregon. She's working on Bartok's
"Contrasts" and finds it confusing which clarinet should be played when
in each movement. She says: "I am playing A clarinet in the 1st movement,
B-flat in the second, B-flat in the third, switching to A in measure 132
and back to B-flat in measure 169. I am also using a different mouthpiece
on my B-flat to make switching easier. Any ideas?"

If anyone has some words of wisdom for Dunja--like, better places to
switch or other techniques to help her through the rough spots--I'd like
to hear from you. Thanks.

Dave
