Some years ago, when I was first immersing myself in
klezmer music, there was a lively tune I would find myself
recalling but couldn't find in the collections of
freilachs and shers I was playing.
Finally I realized that that tune I thought was a klezmer
tune was an exercise out of the Klose "Celebrated Method."
Check out the syncopation exercise (duet number 5 on page 94
of Bellison's edition for Carl Fischer). Is that klezmeresque
or what?
