i know what you're talking about, and it has baffled me too. most of the
smokers here are either vocalists or string/piano players. i know a few
wind players who smoke, but not too many. i've been told that smoking
can not hamper proper vocal technique. it seems that to some it opens
up the lungs even more, and some say they sing better right after a
smoke. but who knows. to me, it's still a mystery :)
