Once upon a time, many (26) years ago, there was a high school student who
loved to play the bass clarinet. Speaking from a totally biased viewpoint, he
was rather accomplished with that horn.

Because of career plans and the educational requirements for that career,
time for playing the bass clarinet became nil.

Fortunately, after 26 years and a busy medical practice, an opportunity to
play the horn again has surfaced. I (as you may have already guessed), am going
to play with our local high school symphonic band, along wiht other adult
members of the community, in a spring concert.

The instrument I am playoing is a Selmer, borrowed from the school. For
the asake of good hygiene, I purchased a new mouthpiece from a local craftsman,
Emil Anello, and have obtained some Vandoren number 2-1/2 and 3 reeds. Getting
started was like riding a bicycle; I guess you never forget some things. It
didn't sound too badly, either, if I must say so.

Do any of you on the Klarinet list have any other suggestions for a
not-so-new newcomer? Thanks
