Regarding lurkers, I'm one. I'm a bass clarinetist in a community band,
and I play a soprano when we march. It's a hobby rather than
an avocation, and I'm very much the rank amateur. I'm barely acquainted
with clarinet literature (let alone able to debate its intricacies)
therefore I'm not sure I can contribute a whole lot. However, I love
the instrument dearly and I'm learning a great deal on this list.
I get alot from reading the various postings and they have prompted me
to think about collecting some good classical clarinet recordings (I
love jazz clarinet and have some Woody Herman, Benny Goodman and Eric
Dolphy recordings already.) Any suggestions about where to
start with classical recordings and augmenting my jazz collection
would be highly appreciated. In the meantime, be kind to us awe-struck
lurkers! :-)
