I'm sure you're going to get lots of different advice about this. If
ever there was a question that you'll have to answer for yourself --

As a vague guideline, if your primary interest is larger wind ensembles
and soprano instruments, an Eb might be an enjoyable second instrument to
purchase. If, however, you have even half a mind to being able to
participate in the college symphony orchestra you'll definitely need an A.
Is it a save guess that you'd like to be able to broaden your
clarinetistic horizons as opportunity arises? If so, it might be
worthwhile to keep in mind that the Bb/A pair will give you access to both
the band and orchestral worlds, whereas the Bb/Eb pair won't as readily
offer the same flexibility.
