I very much doubt it--but not all 18th and early 19th century players did-
true Lefevre did--and some Italian players persisted into the 20th century
but I do believe that there are no recordings-performances of this literature
today with the reed upper most--but I am sure someone on the list may have
come across "a real authentic" performance in which the reed was uppermost.
