'twas indeed intended with a "smile". The recording-performance I was
speaking of (Wolfgang Meyer) of the quintet and trio of Mozart is some
of the most wonderful "music making I have ever heard on a CD or on any
recorded medium. Your point is very well taken--this performance on a
reproduction basset clarinet--as several others with these instruments-
should forever lay to rest the notion that performance on existing instru-
ments at the time of composition would somehow be "less-than".
