I really think you would find it most convenient (at least in the heat
of battle) to have the same mouthpiece-reed combination set for both the
La and Sib. I know from my own experience that some of my A's have played
"freer" when played with the Bb barrel--this was on the R13--if you check
you may see that the A barrel (if standard) will be a mm shorter than the
standard Bb barrel--but it worked for me just fine. You may want to try
that. Also remember--the A is longer--but because in some models the bore
is actually a bit "smaller" the resistance may go up. You will also find
that the notes--G A and B above the staff--at the end of the clarion register
tend to "grunt"--this is especially true on some A's more than others--again

experimenting with barrel configurations may be helpful.
