Well, I finally received my used, overhauled A clarinet from the Woodwind.
They did a beautiful job on the restoration. Much attention to detail.
And the response is excellent. However, as others have warned, the A
plays a little "stuffy". I assume this is the result of having to push
air down a longer tube. The good part is that this should help develop
my embouchure at a faster rate! Like lifting heavier weights! I am
curious though, since this is my first A clarinet, if anyone has suggestions
on use. Like, should I use the same mouthpiece I use on my B-b clarinets
(a Selmer C*, a Vandoren B-46), or does it work better to use a different
mouthpiece on an A? Any suggestions welcomed!
