Klarinet Archive - Posting 000051.txt from 1994/03

Contest is over!! Karen Noel-Bentley won by identifying the two
operas and the places within the operas where Mozart explicitly
requested a pair of clarinets in B-natural.
Cosi fan tutte - Per pieta
Idomeneo - Chorus: Placido e il mar
Aria: Zeffiretti lusinghieri
This last one was particularly difficult to find even for the
cognoscenti. The aria is printed with clarinets in A even in
the NMA volume. Only a footnote on the first page of the two
places points one to the introduction where the fact that a
clarinet in B was requested by Mozart is explained.
I am speaking in Reno in two weeks and Karen is going to be there
with a group from Canada so my payoff of a box of Crackerjax will
take place in the biggest little sin city in America.
