I suspect there's a higher quotient of civility among clarinet
players than in the general run of the population.

After spending a week in just about exclusively a population
of clarinet players at the only ICS conference I've attended
so far (was it really 20 years ago!), I was struck by there
being an undefinable quality that filled the site. There
seemed to be more common ground among the people who played
clarinet than the fact than they played the same instrument.

I thought then that, if the world was entirely populated by
clarinet players, it might be a less varied place, but there
would be no more wars.

Huge military bands, perhaps, but no wars.
