Valentino used to advertise regularly in the various musical journals that a
clarinetist would be likely to read. I have not seen any of his adverts recent
ly. Perhaps someone out there has come across one of his adverts in their read
ing. He used to offer a special on the pads and the overhaul. I also recall
reading a product-use report on the pads but for the reeds of me I can't
remember where. Perhaps an old Clarinalysis article in THE CLARINET. I know
that is not much help but at least we can keep our eyes open for it. I think
one of the problems some folks encountered was that the pad material used to
lift away from the backing--mine have been in place on a set of Leblanc L300's
for several years and have not given out. The material used to replace the
corking on the tenons is very slick--do not add cork grease to them. Ron M
